The Lafayette Parish School System has been awarded an AA+ long-term bond rating by S&P Global Ratings for its 2020 taxable sales tax revenue refunding bonds. S&P also affirmed the AA+ long-term rating of the district’s sales tax revenue bonds outstanding . The AA+ long-term rating is the highest for a school district in Louisiana and indicates LPSS’s creditworthiness and bond quality, which in turn results in lower interest rates and taxpayer savings. Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Billy Guidry credits the collaborative relationship between the Superintendent and the School Board, which has led to effective decision-making. “It’s also a strong indication of the quality of financial projections and reporting generated by the accounting and finance staff,” he added. According to S&P’s RatingsDirect® report, “Given the strength of the board's finances as well as good management practices, we anticipate that it will maintain a very strong financial position over the outlook horizon.”
