Lafayette Flooding Concerns

In these weather events you hear us say all the time "turn around, don't drown".

At the corner of Eraste Landry and Ambassador Caffery Jarrell Colvin was driving for Waitr when he attempted to drive through flood waters within seconds he was stuck.

"But as I was sitting there just thinking what to do next or pondering my car was filling up with water so im like oh no like the cars got water"

As the car filled up with water Colvin was on the phone with his wife, Charity Colvin---- but the two were disconnected....that's when Chairty sprung to action, making a plea on facebook.

"And so I was just connecting with people in the area like hey my husband needs help we don't know you know who's out there"

After making the post on facebook she says a lady commented a screenshot of someone offering to help anyone with a stalled car but she didn't think they would follow through.

"He was the only one that really responded when my husband called him he picked up the phone and was just like yeah you gotta wait I got a truck load of people im helping so many people just hang tight and he came through."

Colvin says he learned a valuable lesson.....never underestimate how deep flood water may be.

"Because in that situation it was just me and i had my faith so I kept praying god your in this with me and he came through"
