Lafayette Firefighters Respond to a Vacant Hose Fire in the 100 Block of Leroy Street

Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Leroy Street at 6:18 a.m. on November 15, 2021.

Lafayette, LA –  Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Leroy Street at 6:18 a.m. on November 15, 2021.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the front room of the dwelling was fully on fire. Emergency crews entered the burning home to conduct a search and rescue.

The home was not occupied. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and sustained heavy fire damage.

While investigating the incident, fire officials learned the home had no utility services. According to the neighbors, it has not been occupied for months.  Individuals were seen, at times, going into the vacant structure.

Fire investigators determined the fire originated in the living room. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
