Lafayette Firefighters Respond to a Fire at Poppa’s Fried Chicken restaurant

Lafayette firefighters responded to a commercial fire at Poppa’s Fried Chicken, 810 SE Evangeline Thruway at 11:44 p.m. on May 4, 2021.

Lafayette, LA –  Lafayette firefighters responded to a commercial fire at Poppa’s Fried Chicken, 810 SE Evangeline Thruway at 11:44 p.m. on May 4, 2021.

The fire was reported by someone driving by the business and noticed smoke coming from the building. When firefighters arrived on scene, the business was closed. Smoke was coming from the eaves of the building. Once fire crews entered the building, the fire was discovered in a storage room between the kitchen and customer seating area. The interior of the building sustained heavy fire damage.

According to the owners, they closed around 8:00 pm. Fire officials determined the fire originated in the storage room. The fire spread to the attic of the building and kitchen causing substantial fire damage. The restaurant will be closed due to damages.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
