Lafayette Fire Department Hosting Fire Prevention Month ‘Drive-by’ Parade

The Lafayette Fire Department would like to invite parents and their young kids to participate in a “drive-by” parade on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Lafayette Fire Department would like to invite parents and their young kids to participate in a “drive-by” parade on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is part of a month long Fire Prevention Week campaign to reduce homes fires in the community.

The event will take place at the Fire Prevention Bureau located at 2100 Jefferson Street. Parents will be able to drive through the parking lot where there will be a fire truck, aerial ladder and fire safety house on visual display.

The first 200 children will receive a fire safety goody bag along with pizza and a drink. Sparky, the mascot will also be on hand to wave at the kids as they pass by.

LFD encourages the community to follow them on Facebook as they promote Fire Prevention Week with fire safety tips throughout the month.
