On Dec. 2 at approximately 12 p.m., officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a firearm in the 300 Blk. of W. Gilman St.
The incident involved a boyfriend and the stepfather of his girlfriend.
Once on scene, officers located the stepfather suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The boyfriend was administering first aid measures to the stepfather when officers arrived.
Authorities say the boyfriend shot his girlfriend's stepfather after the stepfather barged into his home.
Medical assistance was provided to the stepfather by first responders prior to being transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The boyferiend was quickly detained, and transported to the police department for an interview with investigators.
Police says the boyfriend was within his legal rights to shoot and will not be facing charges. He also will not be pressing charges on his girlfriend's stepfather.
