Louisiana State Police say human remains discovered in Evangeline Parish in December of 2018 have been identified

Louisiana State Police say human remains discovered in Evangeline Parish in December of 2018 have been identified as those of 20-year-old Erica Hunt of Opelousas, who went missing in July of 2016.

Hunt's skeletal remains were identified by Louisiana State Police Crime Lab with the help of forensic scientists at LSU and "DNA DOE", a nonprofit.

Hunt was last seen at a family gathering on July 3rd.

A state police spokesman says they're investigating the case a murder.
