This week’s KidLit Pick of the week is Dragons Don’t Dance Ballet by Jennifer Carson.
Esmeralda Dragon works at the Metropolitan Ballet, running the spotlight for the dancers. Once the dancers go home though, she takes the stage and performs for just herself to the whistling of the janitor, Harold. When auditions open for the ballet company, Harold encourages Esmeralda to audition. Some things go right, some go wrong, but she never gives up. Things go a little haywire and Esmerelda almost decides to give up. But, with the help of her friends, she perseveres.
