Officers responded to a walk-in complaint of theft of a firearm on June 28, 2021.Upon arrival, Officers were met by the victim who stated a Daniel Defense AR-10 rifle was stolen from his residence. The victim stated he recently had subjects in his residence doing plumbing work.
The victim stated he confronted the suspects , Dietz and Dupont about the theft who admmited to stealing the firearm. Officers were able to localte both suspects at a residence on Winnie Street. They led officers to an abandoned residence in Evangeline where they stated they hid the firearm.
During the investigation it was learned that Dietz had sold the firearm to Dominick Sittig for approximately $700.
Dietz, 27, was charged with theft of a firearm, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegally supplying a felon with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and criminal conspiracy.
Dupont, 34, was charged with criminal conspiracy.
Sittig, 25, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
