Iberia Parish - On Wednesday, July 7th, Iberia Parish Jail trusty inmates picked up trash and debris along Washington Street to Landry Drive. Over 70 bags of garbage were collected, along with 12 - old tires, 4 - 55 gallon drum, a television, twin mattress and even a wedding dress!

This morning, less than 24 hours later, more items were dumped in that same area. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office trusty inmate litter abatement crew have been working over the last 6 months cleaning up our parish, they have collected over 10 TONS of garbage during this time. This program saves Iberia Parish Government money, helps to keep our parish clean and is a benefit to those visiting, those considering moving here, as well as encouraging businesses to move to Iberia Parish.

Anyone that may possibly be able to identify the owner of the items found this morning are encouraged to contact our office at 337-369-3714. A reminder that anyone with large items to discard can place those items at the roadside of YOUR property and contact the Iberia Parish Government for pick up for large debris. Let’s all work together to keep Iberia Parish Clean.
