LAFAYETTE, LA -- High hospitalization numbers are causing healthcare workers to turn regular patients around during this fourth surge.

Medical Doctor for Lafayette Internal Medical Clinic , Britni Hebert says that people that are sick enough to need hospital care right now aren't able to get the attention they need during this forth surge.

“We are the worst off now , so I have no doubt that people have to be sent home right now.” Britni Hebert Said.

Covid-19 hospitalization rates are causing some doctors to cancel or postpone non covid patients' appointments.

“We've had several people's surgeries cancelled at this point , some surgeries are not possible right now.” Britni Hebert Said.

Healthcare workers are aiming that more people get vaccinated to help reduce the numbers of hospitalization.

“makes you feel a great deal of sympathy for anyone who has gotten the vaccine that is impacted by this mom for anyone who needs non covid related care.” Lawrence Simon Said.

Sending those home without urgent care is something Simon says he is hoping will end soon.

“I'm taking care of the patient in front of me, and you have to really try to focus on that. I think a lot of doctors right now are just trying to make it through the day.” Lawrence Simon Said.
