Lafayette, LA – Downtown Lafayette encourages you to continue to shop small this holiday season by visiting the Merry & Bright Holiday Art Market this Saturday, December 12 during ArtWalk. While Small Business Saturday was a significant boost, many locally-owned shops and vendors need more than just one day of support during this difficult year. Enter the Merry & Bright Holiday Art Market, where small businesses from across Acadiana can come together in Downtown Lafayette to support one central mission: shopping local. Starting at 4 pm this Saturday on Polk Street, find handcrafted and one-of-a-kind gifts from local vendors from across the state. In an effort to protect the health of all vendors, volunteers, and shoppers, the event will be held outside on Polk Street in Downtown Lafayette. All COVID-19 protocols, including wearing masks, limiting the number of vendors and spacing out booths, and following social distancing guidelines are required to be followed while attending the event. “While the Holiday Art Market is taking place in Downtown Lafayette, this is an incredible opportunity for local artists from across Acadiana to sell their work in person. For many, this is the first chance they’ve had to do so, and they are grateful and excited for the opportunity,” said Anita Begnaud, CEO of Downtown Development Authority & Downtown Lafayette Unlimited. “Shopping at the market ensures your hard-earned dollars stay local, and guarantees that you’ll find thoughtful, unique finds your loved ones will appreciate for years to come.” In addition to the many retailers and businesses who will be open for ArtWalk on Saturday, Downtown Lafayette also encourages shoppers to support the many locally-owned restaurants and coffee shops in the district. “Shoppers can truly make an afternoon and evening outing out of visiting Downtown Lafayette, when you start at our market, pop into the multiple other shops that call Downtown home, and end with a great meal,” continued Begnaud. “‘Mask Up Downtown’, and make our district your destination for shopping small this season!” To learn more about the event and participating vendors, visit the Holiday Art Market Facebook page, or send a message to cali@downtownlafayette.org.
