Lafayette, La (KADN) - Labor shortages in the food industry means consumers may not be able to find the products they like in supermarkets or restaurants.
Tim Metcalf says "Every day is an adventure".

COVID-19 impacts have led to severe increases in global food insecurity, affecting almost every restaurant in the world Deano's is one of those restaurants that has been affected.

He says "We’re having shortages not just on food mostly it’s the red meats beef pork and chicken but were getting shortages on paper goods were getting shortages on liquor it’s months and months out before we can order a new mixer or a new oven so we’re having to repair the old one".

Several companies including restaurants have blamed a lack of goods on truck drivers.
Metcalf says "Truck driver shortages have definitely affected us more so in we can't even get a truck tomorrow from our primary supplier there not even applying tomorrow if we needed it so it’s a crazy new world out there its changed everything".

Buck and Johnny's says while they haven't seen a food shortage finding alcohol has been a huge issue.

Alcohol has been an issue we’ve had shortages of a lot of different alcohols for the last several months and aluminum cans but all of our wholesalers and all of our distributors have been very accommodating as far as finding us substitutions in any way that they can

Tim Metcalf says there committed to their customers and will continue to strive for excellent customer service.

Metcalf says "We hope that everybody gets back to work and we can get back to just running restaurants and just putting out good food instead of looking for the products every day and trying to find the challenge to hire people we just hope it gets better sooner than later".
