The thought of a festival without food is too much to bear. but good news... executive director scott feehan says they're offering a month-long menu of mouthwatering festival foods from all around acadiana.
"Each restaurant has come up with their own festival dish and a lot of them are the dishes that they serve during the live event so you might be able to go grab your favorite dish eat it at home and fly your flag and enjoy the music"
More than 20 restaurants are participating this year. There are new treats and some fan favorites.... like the crawfish spinach bowl. The owner of bon creole says this delicious dish been a favorite for more than 15 years. You can grab a bowl through the entire month of april.
"We been selling it for probably 15 20 years we were just trying to come up with a new item when we did and it has taken off"
... says he's glad to be a part of festival international again because the business took a huge loss when covid hit. the pandemic put a stop to any festivals or large gatherings
"So we basically lost all festival and catering activities which was a very significant amount you know of our business but the restaurant itself has recovered this year"
To say the covid 19 pandemic has changed the world would be an understatement. But Feehan says no matter the circumstances, festival international will be bigger and better next year.
"I want everybody to know that we are going to make it through this and at this point it's not about us surviving we're trying to make up as much as we can so that next year we can come out bigger and better than ever"
