UPDATE:One Person killed in Two Vehicle Crash on I-10 Near Rayne; Victim Identified

Rayne Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly announced his department is currently investigating a 2 vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality.

UPDATE 1/15/2021 3:07PM- Rayne Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly has announced the identity of the victim from the January 13, 2021 fatality that occurred on I-10.

The victim has been identified as Ronrico Jones, 34 year old male.


Rayne - At 6:46 AM, Rayne Police received a call of a crash and a vehicle on fire on I-10 Eastbound near the on ramp. Rayne Police and Rayne Volunteer Fire responded and the fire was extinguished.

The initial investigation revealed a pickup truck was traveling westbound on I-10 and crossed the median striking an 18 wheeler which was traveling eastbound. Both vehicles then entered the median with the pickup truck catching on fire. The driver and a passenger of the 18 wheeler were transported to a Lafayette hospital for evaluation. The male driver of the pickup truck was killed in the crash and his name will not be release until the family can be notified.

The investigation is continuing at this time.
