Faith House of Acadiana Board Member makes a farewell contribution

Classic Auto Spa, a company owned by Veverica and his family, donated $50,000 to Faith House.

LAFAYETTE, LA - After serving eight years as a Faith House board member, MarkVeverica decided to make his last act as a board member a special one. Classic Auto Spa, a company owned by Veverica and his family, donated $50,000 to Faith House.The donation will be dedicated to helping Faith House find a solution for increasing the capacity of itsshelter space. Survivors of domestic violence can spend anywhere from a single night to ninety days atthe shelter before long-term housing can be arranged. Over the last five years, inadequate shelterspace has been a reoccurring issue with devastating effects.

“Last year Faith House turned away morepeople seeking shelter than they were able to accommodate, many of which were women with children.Knowing this reality was the driving force behind our donation,” says Veverica.

The resources required for a survivor to escape their abuser can be extensive, especially when thereare children involved, extreme violence, or when the survivor lives in a rural setting. Faith House mustbe prepared to provide a number of services including helping survivors develop a safety plan,obtaining medical treatment, providing food and clothing for survivors and their children, short-termand long-term shelter, transportation, legal representation, advocacy, counseling for survivors, andtheir children, transferring children to new schools, and providing a children’s program for helpingchildren stay current in school.
