Lafayette, LA – In the spirit of community solidarity and social cooperation, Festivals Acadiens et Créoles and Downtown Alive! are pleased to be collaborating this year. The two will join forces to virtually present Downtown Alive!’s weekly Friday evening event, followed by the opening concerts of Festivals Acadiens et Créoles 2020 Virtual Edition. Downtown Alive! will feature Lake Charles-area band Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Krush who will perform from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Festivals Acadiens et Créoles Virtual Edition will open the weekend with the Lost Bayou Ramblers followed by Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Cowboys, Terry and the Zydeco Bad Boys, and the Pine Leaf Boys from 7:30 to 10:00 PM. All performances will be available on Facebook Live, and both organizations will carry each other’s feeds, so viewers can catch a night full of great music from either Facebook page. “We hope you will join us for a well-deserved celebration of music and culture,” said Dr. Barry Ancelet, founder of Festivals Acadiens et Créoles. “The respective staffs at Festival International, the Acadiana Center for the Arts, and Warehouse 535 are also cooperating with Festivals Acadiens et Créoles to present our virtual festival this year, by providing technical and production support.” “With the trio of Festival International, Festivals Acadiens et Créoles, and Downtown Alive! working together, we have the opportunity to make the best of a tough year,” said Anita Begnaud, CEO of Downtown Alive! organizer Downtown Lafayette Unlimited. “We are bringing musicians and our community together to keep the spirit of tradition alive. Downtown Alive! fits right into Festivals Acadiens et Créoles curated programming — we are excited to work with them to help kick off a beautiful weekend!” Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Krush will take the Downtown Alive! digital stage this Friday, October 16th, at 6 pm. Presented by Evangeline Maid and streamed online from Acadiana Center for the Arts, viewers can watch the virtual performances by tuning in to the Downtown Alive! Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/downtownaliveLFT. Downtown Alive! has provided family-friendly entertainment, along with a dash of culture, for nearly 40 years. Although 2020’s Spring and Fall seasons look different from those in the past, organizers are looking on the bright side of things and excited to support local musicians and provide family-friendly entertainment to the community.
The rest of this DTA! season will include talent from New Orleans’ Daiquiri Queens; a who's who of Acadiana musicians with the Blue Monday Allstars; and a season wrap-up featuring Sunset’s own Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble. Downtown Alive! would not be possible without its sponsors’ support, especially Fall 2020 presenting sponsor Evangeline Maid, venue host Acadiana Center for the Arts, videography by Better Boot Productions, and Paul Kieu Photography. Companies and organizations like Lafayette Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Smokefree Music Cities, LUS Fiber, M.I. Brary, Victor Ashy, CGI, Professional Outsource Services, Rock'n'Bowl® de Lafayette, Lowry’s Printing, Element, Potty Girl, Townsquare Media, Delta Media, and Festival International de Louisiana have also come together to produce this season of Downtown Alive!
