LAFAYETTE, LA -- Lafayette parish is combatting yet another issue at hand which is domestic violence.
Faith house is seeing a 70 percent increase in domestic violence situations just in Lafayette parish alone.
“The calls when I am there every day are just blowing up the telephones.” Tracy Fentz Said.
Four surges of covid-19 , has caused many families to suffer domestic violence issues in their home.
“The pandemic has put stress on everybody. in everybody's home because we are not used to having to be home so much. It's an adjustment and so some people are losing their jobs or there is a pay cut within the home. it really puts that stress on a family.” Kelsey Sanders Said.
In the efforts of fighting through this crisis, Faith House is continuing to bring awareness to Lafayette parish.
“There is also an increase in lodging and staffing. We are very proud to say that everyone has done their best and they kept it going. We are proud of that. Unfortunately, domestic violence does not discriminate. When things like the pandemic occur, hurricanes just occur, things are already on the rise. People are together, it is stressful. it shows in the phone calls that we are getting every day.” Tracy Fentz Said.
