"There is still a pandemic going on and we haven't beaten this virus yet"

Healthcare professionals across acadiana are voicing there concerns over a more contagious Covid-19 variant called delta. This variant was first discovered in india and seems to be more contagious than others.

"Because it is more contagious than the other circulating strands of Covid-19 and it has been show to produce more serious symptoms"

Studies show about 30% of Louisiana residents have received both doses of the vaccine. Dr. Britni Hebert emphasized there's no need to revive restrictions yet... as long as people continue to get vaccinated.

"To have enough people vaccinated and were just not there and I think slowing up on vaccination is a recipe for losing some of these beautiful wonderful freedoms that we've all waited so long for and we really deserve and need for our mental and emotional wellness"

Health officials warn people who are vaccinated can still contract and transmit Covid-19 which is why they suggest we continue to follow necessary precautions.

"We still do need to follow those precautions to protect them we need to make sure we dont throw away our masks it's not time to retire them just yet just keep your masks for those who aren't vaccinated so that we can protect them from contracting this deadly virus"
