Lafayette, LA (KADN) -- At a track meet last week, Northside's Danaisha George won the 200 meets, the 4 by 200 meters, and the 4 by 400 meters, but she's still reaching for another level. Her coaches love her competitiveness.
"When she first came over from basketball to track her legs wasn't under her she was kind of shakey," Northside head coach Ernest Lazard explained. "Now she's a beast."
"I really didn't know what I was doing at first, Danaisha said. "But as I kept on going then I started to get it more."
2020 was supposed to be her breakout season, but Covid-19 canceled it. Now she is the team leader as just a junior.
"She is the first one here and the last one to leave," Ernest Lazard explained. "She volunteers to run things that no one else wants to do."
She runs at least four events in every track meet. Opponents often are frustrated to see her competing again and again.
"They are like that a lot. 'Dang her again," they say." Danaisha explained. "I am good at my events."
Danaisha has four college scholarship offers. However, her persistence won't let her be complacent
"Keep on working hard and keep on doing what you are doing," Danaisha said. "It is going to get you places."
