Covid-19 Misinformation Growing In Lafayette Parish

Misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine is growing throughout the community following FDA approving the Pfizer vaccine.

LAFAYETTE LA -- Misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine is growing throughout the community following FDA approving the Pfizer vaccine.

Many people in the Lafayette parish are refusing to take the vaccine because they simply don’t trust the information that is given to the public.

“I'm totally against it and the day they tell me that I have to do it to get a job. Guess what? I'm not taking that job.” Linda Meroneo Said.

That’s the frustration of one resident who is guided by information that she believes is true about the Covid-19 vaccine.

“I don't believe everything. Nobody knows everything. When it comes to this.” Linda Meroneo Said.

One University of Louisiana at Lafayette student adds that “There are a lot of things that are not right about it, that people think are true but they're really not. you just have to get the right articles and just follow the facts.” Blair Guilbeau Said.

Health officials encourage people to educate themselves about the vaccine with well trusted sources.

“Look in your local community. look at your hospitals. The information can also be referenced in your hospital. Those are going to be trusted sources and lastly, they're going to be your doctors. look at your doctors. if you don’t know if something is true , take that information and go back to your doctor.” Brian Burton Said.
