Carencro, LA (KADN) -- The Carencro Bears have advanced to the state championship game. The Bears battle 4-time defending state champion Edna Karr on December 29th at 6pm. The Bears have won playoff games by 48 points a game this postseason, but they know a victory against the Cougars won't be so easy.

"We are going to play one of our best games obviously," Carencro head coach Tony Courville said. "I am confident in these young men that we can prepare to the best of our abilities. We have tremendous respect for Coach Brice and his players and the tradition that they have and we are going to try to spoil it for them."

The Bears shutout the West Monroe Rebels at the beginning of the season. That defensive intensity continued to improve throughout the season.

"We beat a 5A school and I had a pretty good game and we kept momentum from there and we kept building and building," defensive end Brycelon Noel said.

"We know its going to be a 48 minute war," Courville said. "We want to play defense with our offense."

Coach Courville has everything covered this postseason. He pumps in crowd noise to practice to simulate the Edna Karr band. Whatever it takes to win the school's first state title since 1992.
