Broussard Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle traveling east on US Hwy 90 in Broussard.

Broussard - The Broussard Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian. On Monday, May 31, 2021 at approximately 5:10 AM the Broussard Police Officers responded to reports of a major crash located near the intersection of US Hwy 90 and KOL Dr. Upon arrival, officers discovered the crash the vehicle and a pedestrian, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The pedestrian is identified as Clarence Williams, JR (47 YOA of Broussard). He was hit by a passing vehicle on Hwy 90. The lighting conditions outside were still dark due to the time of morning and the driver of the truck could not see the pedestrian due to dark clothing. The driver of the pickup was traveling east on US Hwy 90.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. No citations were issued. No alcohol involvement suspected for the driver of the pickup. Toxicology results are pending for Williams.
