(NBC News) In the last full week on the campaign trail before election day, and with a record number of ballots already cast, two very different campaigns are coming down to the wire.

President Trump barnstormed Pennsylvania Monday, with three appearances in that must-win state.

"We win Pennsylvania, we win the whole thing, you gotta get out," Mr. Trump told supporters.

Former Vice President Joe Biden made his own surprise visit to Pennsylvania as well.

"Bottom line is President Trump is the worst possible President, the worst possible person to lead in this pandemic," he told supporters.

Coronavirus cases are now soaring across the country, as President Trump continues to insist we're turning the corner and the White House tries to clarify controversial comments by Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

"We're not going to control the pandemic," Meadows said during an interview with CNN. "We are going to control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigations."

Biden called that "waving the white flag of defeat."
