EUNICE, La. - A lockdown at Beau Chene High School in Arnaudville has been lifted and no weapons found according to police.
The lockdown began, he says, after a false report in a Facebook live post of a shooter on campus. Thibodeaux chalked it up to the time of year: "It's the day before a holiday. These people, they're playing around but you got to take it seriously. They're trying to get early dismissal."
The St. Landry Sheriff's Office also has a heavy presence on the campus of Northwest High in Opelousas where an unspecified threat of violence at the school was found on a wall Wednesday. Deputies planned to check all students with metal detectors as they entered campus, conduct walk-throughs and keep the school resource officer on campus for the full school day.
