Arnaudville, Louisiana (KADN) -- It is alot easier to stay loose when you are winning. The Beau Chene Blue Gators haven't had a winning season since 2016 but they are off to a (3-1) start.
"It means alot because the last few years we haven't been winning and this year we put everything together," right guard Kohl Champagne said.
"Practice makes perfect," left tackle Chris Robert added.
Marques Lewis didn't start as the new football coach until July. The biggest change he made is increasing the number of football assistants from five to eleven.
"The strength is in the numbers man when you have six more pairs of eyes rather than just two it makes the load easier for the staff it makes it easier for that one person."
Two uprights are the turning point of the season for the Blue Gators. They lost to Northwest in the jamboree football game 14-13 after a missed extra point. So close. That fired up the players to build a winner.
"We lost by a point so we wanted to not lose by a point no more we wanted to keep winning," offensive lineman Chris Robert said.
"How do you respond when you have a letdown like this?" Coach Lewis said. "Do you give up and go back to your old ways and feel sorry for yourself or do you respond the next game and feel like we did."
The team's motto is all gas no breaks. These guys racing towards the school's first playoff win in school history.
