Spring showers bring are bringing March Flowers which signals the start of allergy season for many across the region.
Whie pollen is expected to peak in late March and into April, the pollen may be arriving just a little bit later than normal thanks to a cold end to February.
For many that suffer from lighter symptoms Over the Counter medicines may suffice but for others tacking hay fever takes being proactive with treatment
"So with patients with really severe seasonal allergies it is very important to try to control or camp down those perennial allergy symptoms as well... Also having patients expecting severe seasonal flair-ups, we'll often have them accelerate their seasonal treatment plan where they will start taking their traditional seasonal medicines very early on before the pollen really hits."
Dr. Collins also says that while tree and flower pollen might be causing issues now, looking ahead mold and grass pollen will become more of an issue going into summer.
