The World Meteorological Organization has announced that 2020 has tied 2016 as the warmest year globally on record. Mainly driven by record warmth in the Arctic and Siberia that saw conditions almost 10°F above normal the globe finished around 2.25°F above the 1981-2010 average. Europe also recorded its warmest year on record. Even with La Nina during the second half of 2020, which normally lowers global temperatures some the year still came in a statistical tie with 2020. This marks the 6th year in a row to rank in the top warmest years on record.
