FRANKLINTON, La. (AP) — Authorities say they've recovered the bodies of two people after separate drownings on the Bogue Chitto River in recent days.

The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office announced the cases on Tuesday. Sheriff Randy Seal says both drownings involved young men, though he declined to identify them.

One of them, from Jefferson Parish, was visiting a state park near Franklinton when he went under the water while swimming in the river Aug. 1. His body was recovered three days later.

The other man, from Livingston Parish, was on a river tubing excursion with friends Aug. 9 when he drowned. His body was recovered the same day.
