(News15) - As of Monday, August 2, 2021, according to the Louisiana Department of Health, Louisiana has 552,787 COVID-19 cases across the state with 11,026 deaths resulting from COVID-19.

Iberia- 8,708 cases, 166 deaths
Jeff Davis-3,500 cases, 99 deaths
Lafayette-28,250 cases, 310 deaths
St. Landry- 10,267 cases, 268 deaths
St. Martin- 6,386 cases, 122 deaths
St. Mary- 6,360 cases, 147 deaths
Vermilion-6,706 cases, 130 deaths
11,109 new cases reported in the state with 27 new deaths resulting from COVID-19.
In a media briefing on Friday, Gov. John Bel Edwards urged residents to get vaccinated and wear masks. He said since March 10th, Louisiana has seen its highest number of deaths with Friday July 30, 2021 number being 31 deaths. 83% of people that have tested positive are said to have the Delta variant.
11.7% of all emergency department visits in Louisiana are related to patients presenting with COVID- like symptoms, an all time high for Louisiana.
