Lafayette Parish School System Opens Most Schools Tomorrow Updated List Included

After continual remediation from Hurricane Delta, as of this afternoon, the Lafayette Parish School System​ will reopen the following schools on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.​

After continual remediation from Hurricane Delta, as of this afternoon, the Lafayette Parish School System​ will reopen the following schools on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.​ Buses will be operating and lunch will be served as usual. Additional schools have been added to the following list:

Due to structural damage, Charles M. Burke Elementary School will welcome only kindergarten, first, second, and fifth-grade students tomorrow. The repairs have already begun and we anticipate completion early next week to welcome back all students. Until then, the school will provide materials and further details regarding distance learning for third and fourth-grade students.
At this time, schools that will remain closed due to either power outages or other maintenance issues are listed below.

*Duson Elementary School will distribute home-learning packets to students on Thursday, October 15 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
As work continues today, some of these schools may reopen tomorrow. LPSS will provide another update early this evening if there are any additions to the list of schools that will reopen tomorrow. While these few remaining schools are closed, all 244-day employees will again report to work. In addition to 244-day employees, the following personnel are to report to their school sites:
● School administrators
● All custodians
● All cafeteria personnel
Employees unable to report to work are to contact their immediate supervisor for instructions.
Students who are unable to attend school due to extenuating circumstances caused by Hurricane Delta should contact their school directly.
